Tahiti Expeditions actively pursues sustainable Green Best Practices and Social Responsibility in all areas of its business and operations.
Adhering to the philosophy to
“Reduce what you can, offset what’s left”, Tahiti Expeditions partners with
Sustainable Travel International in ongoing efforts to achieve and maintain carbon neutrality and environmental sustainability.
Tahiti Expeditions invests exclusively in
‘best in class’ offset portfolios, including
myclimate™ Gold Standard renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in the developing world; North America-based renewable energy projects that are
Green-e Certified; and international forestry projects that meet the standards set forth by the
Climate, Community and Biodiversity Alliance.
To be included in these portfolios, all projects have to verifiably reduce greenhouse gas emissions according to international
Kyoto Protocol and, where indicated, to the
Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Gold Standard, and they must be
Green-e Certified, or they must meet the standards set forth by the
Climate, Community & Biodiversity Alliance.
Furthermore, they have to satisfy our own criteria that focus on each project’s economic, ecological and social impacts as well as the proficiency of our project partners. This approach ensures long-term sustainable development solutions.
Tahiti Expeditions and its partners are focused on increasing energy efficiency, reducing waste, reducing deforestation, and replacing traditional sources of fuel used for energy including coal, oil and natural gas, with clean and renewable sources like wind and solar power.
